In today’s fast-paced world, juggling work and your personal life—and all the associated demands and pressures—can feel overwhelming. Fortunately, you have somewhere to turn—the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)!

What is EAP?
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides a confidential location for employees and their families to receive assistance with personal matters. You can contact the EAP 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by simply calling one toll-free number, 1-800-852-0357.

The Employee Assistance Program provides professional counseling, education, and referral services to you and your family members.

EAP can help you with a variety of issues:

  • marital and family problems
  • child or adult care issues
  • alcohol and/or drug abuse
  • balancing work and family
  • depression and anxiety
  • work-related concerns
  • financial or legal problems
  • career transition issues
  • personal growth and development

Is the employee assistance program confidential?
Using services provided by Value Options and their Achieve Solutions website is confidential and is neither tracked electronically nor reported to WSU except by group numbers. Confidentiality is a vital part of the program’s success. Your participation in the program will be treated confidentially in accordance with all state and federal laws.

You may gain access to their website by logging into Pipeline using your Wayne State University AccessID and password. Click on the “Employee” tab then the Achieve Solutions link on the left side of the page.

Is there a cost for EAP services?
Telephone consultations and EAP sessions with a counselor are provided at no cost to you. Sometimes, additional counseling, resources, or specialized treatment may involve additional costs; it depends on your health plan benefits.

Your EAP counselor will research the most appropriate and affordable resources to help meet your needs. Your counselor can help you determine if extended services are covered under your health plan and what the approximate cost of services would be.

What experience does the EAP professionals have?
Your EAP is staffed by a network of highly qualified professionals with many years of experience providing counseling and EAP services. The EAP counselors really work for you.

The EAP professional:

  • Helps define the true problem;
  • Counsels for short-term problem resolution, or;
  • Refers the person to the best possible community resource with the most reasonable fee (A person’s insurance benefits and ability to pay are considered); and
  • Follows-up to be sure the person has received appropriate help and support.

So, please do not hesitate to use this valuable service whenever you need it. It’s easy to access, free, and confidential. It’s okay to need a little help now and then.
