University Activities Committee
Having served the university since 1980, the University Activities Committee (UAC) is an appointed committee composed of representatives from Wayne State’s schools, colleges, departments and divisions. These members form a steering committee that provides professional expertise to create and support employee-centered events on campus.
UAC Events
Purpose of the UAC
In accordance with Goals 3 and 4 of the university’s Strategic Plan, the purpose of the UAC is to enhance the sense of community on campus. In addition to planning and managing university activities, the UAC advises the president and the cabinet on overall university activities.
UAC members
UAC members meet on the second Monday of each month during the academic year. Meetings are held at 2 p.m. at McGregor Memorial Conference Center.
The term length for members is two years. Members are expected to actively participate in the monthly meetings and any special meetings. Committee representatives' responsibilities include the following:
- Volunteer and participate in UAC-sponsored events.
- Publicize and encourage participation in events to all faculty and staff in UAC members’ units.
- Take a leadership role by chairing an event or serving as a member of a subcommittee for at least one event each year. Members are encouraged to solicit nonmember colleagues to participate in subcommittees.
- Assist in identifying and securing resources for UAC projects.
The UAC publishes an annual report and events calendar containing dates of all events for the year. Jeffrey Block, Alumni Relations, and Millie Sunday Jett, Human Resources, chair the committee. Employees interested in serving on the committee and/or participating on an event should contact Millie for additional information.
