Active Employees, COBRA Participants and Unpaid Leaves of Absence

Open Enrollment for medical, dental and flexible spending accounts begins October 22, 2007.  Highlights for 2008 include the following:

• Enrollment materials Provided on a Compact Disc!  This year's mailing contains all the materials for open enrollment in a compact disc.  The CD contents include plan information, enrollment materials and links to the HR website for more details on the benefits programs.

• Improved Online Open Enrollment - The online open enrollment process via the Employee Tab in Pipeline has been modified to make it easier to use for Wayne State employees. Try it out beginning October 22, 2007!

• Rate Decrease for the HAP and Total Health Care HMO plans!  Employee contributions for these plans will decrease 1% and 1.9%, respectively, from last year's rates.

• Favorable Rate Increases for the other plan options! – Wayne State has once again been able to work with our vendors to contain costs and negotiate below market rate increases for the Blue Care Network, DMC Care, Community Blue and Blue Cross Blue Shield Traditional plans.
  

Changes to your medical benefits will be effective January 1, 2008.  If you need a physician directory, please call the respective carrier for the directory or you may view the physician directories on-line at their web sites.   If you make a carrier change, your new ID cards will be issued by the carrier you selected.  Please call the carriers directly if you do not receive you new ID card by January 15, 2008.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO DMC CARE SUBSCRIBERS

DMC Care has informed Wayne State University that effective 12/31/07 approximately 305 contracted providers (doctors) without admitting privileges to DMCCare facilities are being eliminated from the DMC network.

In order to provide you with the most up to date information during this open enrollment period, we have posted a listing of the providers that are being eliminated from the DMC network for 2008 on the HR website through the following link: http://www.hr.wayne.edu/tcw/pdfs/dmc_eliminated_providers_123107.pdf

In addition, you may review the complete listing of 2008 DMC network providers on the DMC website.  You can go to the following link: http://www.dmc-care.org/providers/.  Once you are on that page select Tier 1 in the Select Tier field to view the 2008 network provider list.

Please review the list of providers being eliminated as well as the network provider lists prior to making you medical plan selection for 2008.
